The Confused Market and Neo-Image Solution
In 2004 Neo-Image conducted a comprehensive
market study of candle retailing in the U.S. and Canada. Thirty-five
retailers in competing in various market segments were examined.
Special attention was given to pricing, packaging, branding,
private labeling and other marketing mix variables. The conclusion
of the study was clear: The consumer is confused.
Other than pricing between segments, there
is little or no differentiation between one brand over another
in terms of quality, price and ultimately value. Consumers
are demanding products, brands and packaging that clearly
identify with their VALS (values, attitudes and lifestyles).
Neo-Image has responded to market demand
by developing two new exciting brands. They address not only
end-user consumer needs, but also the needs of retailers –
the need for high value, image-driven products that consumers
will immediately recognize and return to purchase, time and
time again.
